Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Excavator Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for completing equipment-related tasks to the specifications required and under the direction of your supervisor. Your expertise in heavy equipment operation will play a key role in maintaining safe, efficient operations and protecting equipment, infrastructure, and surrounding property. Duties

  • Safely operate excavators on a variety of heavy civil construction projects.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete required inspection. documentation, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, FLHAs, and toolbox talks to help maintain a safe work environment.
  • Work closely with supervisors and crew members to complete work safely, efficiently, and to specification.
  • Read and interpret grades, drawings, and site plans as required.
  • Support excavation, utility installation, earthworks, and other civil construction activities.
  • Maintain accurate daily equipment and labour reporting.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating excavators in a construction setting with a strong understanding of heavy equipment functions.
  • Mechanical knowledge of excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and paving machinery.
  • Experience with GPS machine control systems considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar machinery and attachments is highly desirable.
  • Ability to operate related equipment such as bulldozers (dozers), graders, loaders, backhoes, horizontal drills, and paving machines.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety standards and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
