This is a great time to join North Construction! We are currently recruiting for experienced, skilled labourers to work under the direction of Pipe Layers, Site Supervisors, and Superintendents.
Heavy Equipment Operator
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Informs the Foreman and / or Superintendent of resource requirements
- Complete work as per the technical aspects and details provided and tasks in a safe manner following company procedures and protocols
- Completes the daily equipment log and safety checks on each unit operated
- Reports any equipment deficiencies in the log and to the Director of Planning and Logistics
- Responsible for the safety of the crews they are directly working with
- Complete FLHA’s as required on a daily basis
- Provides guidance to the crew(s) based on their extensive experience
- Clean Equipment as necessary
- Accurately complete daily timecard and submit to the site supervisor or the superintendent at the end of each shift
Required Skills:
- Good technical knowledge of all aspects of civil construction
- Proactive and punctual
- A high level of self-management & personal leadership skills
- Strong commitment to team code of honour and company values
- Ability to think strategically, anticipate task needs, and develop creative and effective solutions to challenging obstacles
- Thorough and detail-oriented
- Consistently leads by direction and exemplifies the company values, mission and vision
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow
- OFA 1 certification or higher
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic understanding of engineered drawings, charts, diagrams, maps, and surveys
- Proven track record in civil construction operating heavy equipment
